West Bottoms Hospitality is a wedding-venue and wedding service provider.

According to the Kansas City Star:The state, in a statement Wednesday, said the legal action was triggered by more than 50 complaints filed with the attorney general’s consumer protection division.

According to the state, West Bottoms and Crowell contracted with customers from at least September 2010 through last April to rent the historic Stowe Building in the West Bottoms for wedding ceremonies and to provide photography and other services.

“West Bottoms Hospitality promised consumers the Stowe Building’s ongoing renovations would be completed in time for scheduled weddings and receptions, despite delays in the renovation process,” the state said. However, customers were “never told of the delays,” the state said, and the city eventually halted construction work after the company failed to obtain proper permits.
